Acme Packet Intros Net-Net 14000, Enhances 9200 with Network Processor

By Anuradha Shukla, TMCnet Contributor

Acme Packet (News - Alert) has introduced a new high-end platform: the Net-Net 14000. A provider of session delivery network solutions, Acme Packet said that this new release will allow communications service providers to achieve higher operational efficiencies as they scale the deployment of next-generation IP communication services.

Acme Packet has also made significant hardware enhancements to its chassis-based Net-Net 9200. This product can enable higher signaling performance, session capacity and system throughput, and provide enhanced management and accounting capabilities.

The company has enhanced the Net-Net 9200 with new, field-upgradeable, high-performance signaling and network processors, 10 Gbps network interface options and a new system management module.

The Net-Net 14000 offers "pay-as-you-grow" scalability for large service providers that standardize on ATCA's blade-oriented approach.

"With the transition to VoIP still in its infancy, and voice over LTE (News - Alert) set for explosive growth in the coming years, large service providers will need solutions to accommodate growing subscriber bases and new services while minimizing operational expenses," said Greg Collins, founder and CEO of Exact Ventures, a technology market intelligence and analytics firm. "The Net-Net 14000 and the new options for the Net-Net 9200 allow tier 1 service providers to choose the high-end system from Acme Packet that will address scalability and cost requirements as high-volume networks and services transition from TDM-based 'calls' to IP 'sessions.'"

"Our goal in introducing the Net-Net 14000 and significantly enhancing the Net-Net 9200 is to address the increasing performance and capacity requirements of our large service provider customers," said Seamus Hourihan (News - Alert), senior vice president of marketing and product management for Acme Packet. "With the growing adoption of end-to-end IP communications, we envision these high-end, carrier-grade platforms serving as the cornerstones for building large-scale, next-generation session delivery networks."
