SolarWinds, Inc., a provider of powerful and affordable IT management software announced that Newmont Mining Corporation is using SolarWinds (News - Alert) Orion Network Performance Monitor (NPM), Application Performance Monitor and Engineer’s Toolset to support its assets in the Asia Pacific region.
The Asia Pacific region comprising of Indonesia, Australia and New Zealand, have opened up several opportunities in the form of additional ore reserves discovery. It also poses challenges for Newmont, such as ensuring responsible management of local environments to maintain business uptime across its distributed network locations.
In Indonesia the company supports over 5,000 Newmont employees and contractors, two branch locations in Sumbawa and Jakarta, and more than 1,500 devices, applications and servers combined. To serve this set up the company required a robust, easy to use, multi-vendor solution that covered network monitoring, troubleshooting and reporting with respect to the complex network, said Newmont officials.
Newmont first downloaded and tried out SolarWinds’ fully-functional product evaluations from its website. Then its IT team selected Orion NPM, SolarWinds Application Performance Monitor and Engineer’s Toolset, as the products offered easy usability features, were easy-to-customize and had real-time monitoring capabilities.
Samuel Tirayoh, IT Manager - PT. Newmont Nusa Tenggara, Sumbawa – Indonesia, said in a press release, “SolarWinds met all our business needs. In addition to being user-friendly, it was important for our team to adopt a solution that could monitor the status of all our vendor devices, routers and switches. With our previous solutions, we were limited to monitoring support on a small range of products.”
SolarWinds sources revealed that the company’s flagship Orion family of IT management solutions offers IT professionals a comprehensive and easy-to-understand view of their network’s and applications’ performances from a single pane of glass. It also offers feedback from SolarWinds’ user-community of 55,000+ IT managers.
Besides, Orion NPM can manage the rapid changes in dynamic IT environments and allow IT professionals to simply, and visually, manage networks of all sizes, added SolarWind sources.
Tirayoh elaborated, “We have resolved high bandwidth utilization issues and are now able to track and locate devices across locations, saving us time solving problems and money in replacing broken devices. Our IT team is proud to be using SolarWinds' products, and our management is pleased with its performance.”
SolarWinds, Inc. announced recently the availability of its Orion IP Address Manager (IPAM) as a standalone solution.
