Network Installation: Hardee's Franchise Renews Managed WAN Contract with Contingent

By Amy Tierney, TMCnet Web Editor

When it comes to keeping fast food restaurants and network operations running efficiently, officials from one Rocky Mount, N.C.-based restaurant company say they don’t want to mess with success.

Boddie-Noell, the largest Hardee’s franchise in the United States, has renewed its EverWorX Managed Wide Area Network contract with Contingent Network Services. Under the agreement, the company is deploying the firm’s EverWorX wide-area network service across 340 locations.
Contingent Network Services launched its EverWorX Managed WAN to connect the restaurants through a private broadband network, which offers speedier credit card processing, high-speed Internet, remote network monitoring and energy management. The solution gives Boddie-Noell one consolidated bill, and 100 percent coverage throughout North America, Kyla Buckley, marketing manager, Contingent Network Services, told TMCnet in an interview.
This is Contingent’s second term providing its EverWorX Managed WAN services to Boddie-Noell. The Cincinnati-based company designs, deploys and supports the data communications networks and systems, and manages it all through a single point of contact. Its full-service network integration and technology solutions include managed, ongoing services and individual, discreet projects services in the areas of wireless systems, virtual private networks, local area networks, Voice over Internet Protocol, server/desktop installation and implementation, structured distribution, and ongoing support of all of the above.
More and more restaurant operators and retailers are turning to technologies such as those offered by Contingent, which uses an IPsec-based virtual private network, or “VPN,” because it offers users lower costs and scalability, Buckley said. As a result of the growing popularity, Contingent’s business has increased 20 percent over the last year, she said.
Perhaps one reason for the company’s growth is its stellar service. Contingent offers a 99 percent Uptime Service Guarantee. If service is interrupted or suspended, clients don’t pay, and their bills are automatically credited for the lost services.
“On average our clients save over 50 percent when migrating to our approach and many have found the appliance-based VPN to be more reliable than its expensive MPLS cousin,” said Chad Mattix, vice president of corporate development for Contingent, in a statement. “It just doesn’t make sense anymore to throw money away on unnecessary technology.”
And Contingent has another service guarantee. If a site encounters a problem, technicians can be on-site within two hours to fix it. Clients can also call the firm’s Technical Assistance Center around the clock.
And other restaurant operators are taking advantage of the EverWorX technology, as well. Lexington, Ky.-based Thomas & King granted Contingent Network Services a three-year contract to install a wide-area network for its 97 locations. The contract is worth about $1 million.
