Viber Unveils Enhanced Desktop and Windows Phone Variants

Viber has unveiled enhanced releases of Viber Desktop and the Windows Phone (News - Alert) 8 variant of Viber. These latest releases offer increased incorporation between Viber Desktop and the Windows Phone version, and are also compatible with stickers, emoticons and other major features on both platforms.


The organization has also revealed that it is experiencing tremendous success on the Windows Phone platform. Each month, the Viber app is downloaded by a minimum of 500,000 users.

In a statement, Talmon Marco, CEO of Viber said, “We have focused on bringing Viber to multiple platforms, ensuring our users can communicate freely with as many of their friends as possible. Today we are very happy to bring important updates to two of those platforms, ensuring full compatibility between the Windows Phone and Desktop versions of Viber.”

Viber has recently unveiled an enhanced version of Viber Desktop, wherein users are able to communicate easily on the extremely convenient platform irrespective of the location. The latest release of Viber Desktop offers complete support for group messaging. The ‘Is typing’ feature allows users to view the active participants in a conversation. The latest release also features a revamped conversations list, enhanced pop-up notifications and complete support for contacts with several Viber numbers. Viber Desktop is available for download at Viber’s website.

Viber’s Windows Phone 8 version offers a native interface, exclusively customized for Windows Phone devices. Apart from a native call screen, the app offers support for Windows Phone live tiles. Users can view their most recent message and other information right on their home screen. Apart from considerable performance improvements, this release also resolves issues related to the platform.

Viber allows users to send text, photo and video messages for free, and they can also share locations anywhere across the globe. Users can also make HD-quality calls on iPhone, Android (News - Alert), Windows Phone, Blackberry, Windows, Mac, Symbian, Nokia S40 and Bada devices over 3G/4G or Wi-Fi connections for no extra cost. Viber is currently used by a minimum of 200 million users in 193 countries.
