The iTel Mobile Hybrid Dialer is a fairly new offering from REVE Systems, but it has already made a big impact since it supports such a wide range of devices, including Symbian-based Nokia (News - Alert) devices, BlackBerry phones. Most importantly, the app is also available for both iOS and Android hardware, making it available on the vast majority of smartphones used today.
The app automates the use of calling cards, meaning users don't need to remember the access number, pin number and destination number every time they make a call with a calling card through the iTel Mobile Hybrid Dialer. Furthermore, the app also enables IP calling facilities for making VoIP calls from mobile phones via 3G/4G and GPRS data connections.
In today's communications landscape, the iTel Mobile Hybrid Dialer may not seem so relevant. After all, who still uses calling cards, particularly in North America and South America?
While it's true that the prepaid calling card market in North America saw a decrease in sales in 2001 and 2002, but the market has since experienced steady growth, according to a recent post on the blog, VoIP for All. In fact, prepaid calling card revenue is again approaching the $3.3-billion high it saw in 2000, which is directly related to the use of international calling cards and the increase in travel.
Indeed, North and South America are ideal markets for prepaid international calling cards, since many consumers in the Americas have chosen to forgo a landline or VoIP service of any sort, relying solely on mobile service. This means that most have opted for data connectivity over cheaper international calling, making the iTel Hybrid Dialer's calling card and VoIP functionalities perfectly suited to these areas.
In other words, this new app from REVE Systems is a great way for smartphone users that rely on prepaid cards for international calling to manage their calling card use, making the whole process much easier.
