With the number of remote employees steadily on the rise, the business opportunities in the field of mobile enterprise are also picking up. A large number of mobile enterprise apps have flooded the market in the last few years. Corporate companies and individual developers have been competing with each other to get a share of this lucrative market.

Focusing on the various apps released in this market, Strategy Analytics (News - Alert) has published a new report which estimates that more than 200M mobile workers will be drawn to use business apps by the end of this year.

Mobile enterprise is going to be a money spinner for companies and developers who create apps for this market. The report claims that business apps on mobile devices will double in the next five years.

Predictions about the phenomenal growth of the mobile enterprise market have been floating around for many years now. In 2006, ICD released a report which estimated that the mobile enterprise application market would sustain an annual growth rate of 23 percent for the next four years.

“The consumer mobile experience has taught mobile workers to expect, even demand, access to information and applications from anywhere using mobile devices,” commented Mark Levitt, Director of Business Cloud Strategies research at Strategy Analytics. “Mobile workers have moved beyond just mobile email and messaging to include other collaboration apps such as conferencing, productivity apps such as content authoring, and business process apps such as CRM and even ERP.”

Recently, the company published another study which stated that connected homes are no more restricted to the fancy imaginations of select technicians; but even common consumers are interested in this concept. According to the survey, about 54 percent of broadband households showed interest in the safety features offered by connected homes and the control they provide.
