AGT Unveils First Direct Dial B2B Mobile Video Connection for Microsoft Lync

By Rachel Ramsey, TMCnet Web Editor

With the Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) trend continuing to gain popularity, with tablet deployments and an increasingly mobile workforce, business-to-business (B2B) video conferencing is more critical than ever. Applied Global Technologies (News - Alert) (AGT), a managed services and unified communications technology provider for interactive and mobile video conferencing solutions, released the industry’s first direct dial B2B mobile video connection for Microsoft (News - Alert) Lync that does not require enterprise federation.

Microsoft Lynch integrates with AGT’s EncoreB2B Platform, a mobile video platform that optimizes Cisco, Polycom (News - Alert) and Compunetix infrastructures and enables secure connectivity across networks. AGT delivers the EncoreB2B platform in three flexible packages: a gateway device that attaches to an existing MCU, a client premise-based Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) architecture, or hosted via the cloud.

"By integrating Microsoft Lync to EncoreB2B, we extend our seamless business-to-business capabilities to the thousands of enterprises and organizations adopting Microsoft Lync," stated Bob Wood, COO of Applied Global Technologies. "As a result, we instantly provide enterprises with a business-to-business solution that brings the benefits of mobility right to the desktop."

The integration complements EncoreB2B’s exclusive Mobile Pathway Protocol, a firewall traversal that does not require special firewall devices, system registration or IT configuration. The Mobile Pathway protocol uses “device-enabled” firewall traversal on smartphones, tablets and laptops, enabling connectivity from your network to any other network. Mobile Pathway enables secure connectivity and interoperability between mobile devices, HD video systems and Microsoft Lync clients.

EncoreB2B continues to support the mobile workforce. Mobile device users can connect with Lync clients in the B2B environment, and in return, desktop users can effectively communicate with remote employees, the organization’s supply chain and target sales markets.

"Enterprises are trying to figure out how to translate the potential of mobility to actual business value. We are confident that will start with effectively integrating business-to-business video communications using tools like tablets and Lync," continues Wood.

Other products and services AGT offers include Fathom HD, the only independent HD IP video testing, certification and call quality monitoring tool; managed video services; cloud services; and partner programs, which allow the fulfillment of market objectives to drive new business, establish a competitive advantage and create demonstrable business value.
