GFI Software announced the release of GFI VIPRE Mobile Security Premium a comprehensive mobile protection application for Android (News - Alert) phones and tablets in the UK. This application will ensure security for consumer devices from 10,000 known Android viruses besides safeguarding children, protecting personal information and preventing data loss when a device gets stolen or lost.
Mark Patton (News - Alert), general manager, Security Business Unit at GFI Software said in a release, “Consumers may be reluctant to use mobile devices for banking and online transactions due to concerns about mobile malware and other security risks. GFI VIPRE Mobile Security alleviates these fears by equipping Android users with a powerful prevention strategy that helps keep their family’s data secure and confidential.”
“With these safeguards in place, consumers have the freedom to use their devices however they wish and can enjoy the convenience and flexibility that mobile devices were designed to provide,” Patton added.
GFI VIPRE Mobile Security Premium is available in Google (News - Alert) Play and it leverages GFI Software’s VIPRE antivirus technology featuring lost device locating capabilities, parental controls and automatic backup capabilities. Consumers can use their devices without bothering about mobile viruses, identity theft, data loss or unsupervised activity.
Android users will gain from a multifaceted prevention and protection strategy. The advanced antivirus was developed using GFI’s VIPRE Antivirus software for PCs. This antivirus technology keeps Android viruses away by scheduled scans, advanced malware detection and active protection from malicious applications.
Officials explained that Android users can locate a lost device with location tracking and secure the data on it. Consumers can also set an alarm on a phone or tablet and view a device’s location via the VIPRE Mobile Security website. Users can then wipe all personal information and data remotely.
Parents can keep tabs on children through the activity monitoring feature on the website. They can check on mobile usage and track important device activities like incoming and outgoing phone numbers, sent and received text messages and browsed websites.
Also VIPRE Mobile Security Premium’s online backup functionality keeps secure online backup of all contacts, pictures, bookmarks, user dictionaries and other data so that consumers can easily retrieve personal information if their device is misplaced or stolen. When users activate feature restrictions other users will not be able to change any settings.
