Damaka, a provider of mobile unified communications and collaboration, on Tuesday announced the launch of its UCC product suite for BlackBerry devices.
Siva Chaturvedi (News - Alert), CEO of the six-year-old startup, explained how an enterprise user might enjoy a number of benefits using the Damaka app.
“We are providing collaboration on the BlackBerry (News - Alert) device,” Chaturvedi told TMCnet. “So if you are on a laptop and your colleague is on a blackberry, and you want to share a Powerpoint application, you can share it on whichever one you have.”
Without an additional boost like Damaka, BlackBerry can only do “certain basic things,” he added. But if you download the Damaka mobile app, it becomes easier to share Powerpoint and any data-intensive enterprise application.
Ramesh Chaturvedi, chief strategy Officer, Damaka, noted in a press release that BlackBerry, which has 41 million users worldwide, continues to be a leader in the smartphone industry with established market presence and unrivaled enterprise integration.
“With this release, Blackberry users will now have a comprehensive mobile collaboration tool at their fingertips; capable of Presence, IM, application and desktop sharing with zooming/paning features, and capability to participate in an audio conferencing session and to participate in a multi-party collaboration session,” Chaturvedi said.
Damaka’s collaboration solution for BlackBerry also features Sweeping technology -- Damaka’s method of transferring in process collaboration sessions to and from multiple devices, regardless of operating system or network.
“With its exceptional footprint within the enterprise, the BlackBerry operating system is a key addition to Damaka’s mobile unified communication and collaboration platform,” said Ira Weinstein, senior analyst and partner, Wainhouse (News - Alert) Research, in a press release. “The ability to create and leverage a buddy list, engage in an IM session, escalate into an audio conference, share files and collaborate on documents with multiple parties will be of great interest to many BlackBerry users.”
The line of Damaka mobile unified communications and collaboration solutions is available in both peer-to-peer and traditional client-server architectures. Damaka’s software application is based on patented ‘direct peering’ P2P technology with a highly optimized footprint for smartphones and numerous operating systems. Damaka’s mobile UCC offerings provide a unique solution for service providers, enterprise organizations and SMBs.
The full line of Damaka mobile UCC solutions are already available on Android, iPhone, iPad, Symbian (News - Alert) and Windows Mobile platforms.
