The Telecom Expense Management Industry Association has announced that it has published a report titled “Developing an Exceptional TEM Program: Best Practices for Enterprises and Suppliers that Raise TEM Performance through Key Performance Indicators and Industry Standards.”

 

The report focuses on TEMIA’s (News - Alert) educational initiatives, as well as publishing best practices and developing KPIs. “It demonstrates how TEM companies can influence the industry for the betterment of our clients,” company officials said.

 

Larry Foster, who serves as president of TEMIA and chairman for the committee that focuses on standards, Key Performance Indicators, metrics and benchmarks, said TEMIA is “poised to build upon the successes we have achieved and help our clients’ maximize their investments by streamlining their relationships with their technology supply partners.”

 

David Wise, co-founder and managing partner of mindWireless, notes that “TEMIA’s effort to set standards for TEM is a big step forward for an increasingly complex and critical function... having these KPIs formally recognized gives TEM firms a common set of performance standards, but more importantly, it gives organizations a clearer understanding of how to select a TEM provider that will best meet their needs and to more effectively structure a productive TEM program that will offer savings and efficiency.”

According to TEMIA officials, enterprise IT now commonly sees network costs exceeding 25 percent of their operating budgets, “and it is still growing. At these expense levels, companies must apply basic enterprise supply-chain and resource management processes to reduce and optimize costs.”

 

TEMIA is developing a series of papers on KPIs, benchmarks and standards written for enterprises, government, TEM suppliers and other organizations.

 

TEMIA officials say they’re gearing up to offer a host of new Webinars on a broad range of topics for “improving industry knowledge, fostering ongoing TEM performance improvement, and reducing market friction for delivery and ultimate success of TEMIA members,” according to company officials.

 

Worthy goals all. The association sees it as its mission to help members by “promoting telecom expense management, enhancing the category image through education, marketing and developing industry standards to augment overall service quality.”
