Location Labs, a company that provides mobile device management and location technologies, recently announced that its Labs mobile device management (MDM) platform was selected by Verizon (News - Alert) Wireless for its FamilyBase parental controls service.

The platform will allow FamilyBase subscribers a level of insight and control over phone use. It is compatible with all Verizon Wireless phones, including Android, iPhone (News - Alert), Windows Phone, BlackBerry and BREW devices. The MDM platform enables clients to access a number of services, including location, security and user-level controls to manage voice, data and applications on the handset. Also, it allows remote device access, giving parents unprecedented ability to monitor and manage kids’ phones.

Location Labs’ Sparkle MDM and LBS platform is licensed by Tier 1 global wireless carriers and is today pre-loaded on tens of millions of mobile devices. Numerous wireless carriers partner with Location Labs to offer subscribers value-added services built by Location Labs on the Sparkle platform. These services include Family Locator, Drive Safe and Phone (News - Alert) Controls.
