With a growing number of mobile workers, mobile security is growing a concern for companies, especially since employee-owned BYOD mobile devices are not secured and this poses security risks for the company.
Amtel (News - Alert) has announced that the City of Enid, Oklahoma has selected the company's Mobile Lifecycle Management solution to gain better communication controls over mobile devices used by its employees working on the move, which will get various advantages. For example, the company city can now make use of file and content management features and allow its employees to transfer file and other type of content in a secure manner.
Amtel MDM enables the City of Enid to enforce "whitelist" policies and blocking "blacklist" apps. The new employees get on-board quickly and incoming and outgoing emails now become more secure.
Amtel’s Mobile Apps Management helps users to create enterprise app catalog for in-house private apps. It also allows them to stop backup of corporate data to individual accounts for enterprise apps.
"We chose Amtel MDM service for its manageability, streamlined enrollment, and easy to deploy security policies," said Julia Brown, IT Network Support Specialist for the City of Enid. "Amtel saves me lots of time. It can be difficult and time consuming for end users to get these settings and apps configured on devices manually, so being able to manage it centrally and push security policies over the air is a huge benefit. Also, Amtel offered certain features we wanted, like geo-fencing, before any other vendors."
In 2012, the company introduced new geofencing safety features for its MDM solution for Apple (News - Alert) iOS and Android devices. With this, users will be able to set geographic boundaries and automatically activate or deactivate features and apps on mobile devices.
