The mobile phone has become a necessity for everyone in today’s digital world. One can’t think of being without a mobile device – whether it’s in the form of a laptop, smartphone, iPad, etc.
Securing and safeguarding this information is equally important; professionals use these gadgets for storing, transforming and sharing important information.
To address this need, Trustmarque has announced a partnership with Sophos to deliver a Mobile Device Management security service to customers through the cloud.
Sophos will use the ‘Nimbus Mobile Device Management (MDM)’ solution to provide over-the-air control for mobile business devices. The Nimbus MDM was developed by DIALOGS, recently acquired by Sophos.
The solution will guarantee the enforcement of data protection, policy compliance and application management. This will also allow businesses to fully secure and remotely monitor mobile devices on their networks.
Another solution developed by Sophos, Sophos Mobile Control, offers protection for all popular business devices, including iPhones, iPads, Android (News - Alert), BlackBerrys and Windows Mobile. Based on their requirements, users could also use this tool to enforce security policies.
Sophos Mobile Control facilitates access to a central role-based Web console.
“Laptops used to be the thorn in a security professional’s side, but more and more it is devices such as smartphones that are posing the problem,” said Robert Newburn, Head of Information Security & Managed Services at Trustmarque. “They are easily lost, damaged or stolen; they hold as much information as your company laptop, but they are rarely as well protected. By delivering Sophos security through the cloud, we can offer a responsive and flexible managed service whereby users can take control of their mobile devices by simply logging on to a Web browser.”
Sophos was recently in the news when the company introduced new Complete Security Suites: Web Protection, Data Protection and Complete Security. These suites were introduced by Sophos to help their clients address the evolving security challenges IT departments are facing due the consumerization of IT, the rise of advanced persistent threats and an increase in malware.
