Mobile Device Management Provider Nominated for Global Mobile Award

By Jamie Epstein, TMCnet Web Editor

Based in California, MobileIron powers highly innovative mobile device management solutions that empower workforces to increase productivity while remaining safe from a variety of threats. Today, the company was placed on GSMA’s (News - Alert) 2012 Annual Global Mobile Awards within the Best Enterprise Mobile Service category.

Crossing their fingers and toes until the winner of the actual award is revealed at the Mobile World Conference on February 28, the select companies who made this prestigious list offer best in class mobile services to the enterprise. MobileIron was chosen as part of the nominated organizations due to the ultra high level of security that is offered by its solution which is available for a wide array of Android (News - Alert) devices.

“Reflecting the intensity of competition and innovation across the mobile ecosystem, we saw a record 600 entries and an exceptionally high quality field of contenders vying for this year’s Global Mobile Awards,” Michael O’Hara, chief marketing officer, GSMA said in a statement. “It is a significant achievement to have made the shortlist, and our warmest congratulations go to all the nominees announced today. We look forward to the unveiling of the winners at the Mobile World Congress next month.”

TMCnet had the news that MobileIron 4.5 offers multiple innovative features such as Android 4.0 security; encryption enforcement policies for Samsung GALAXY devices and all other devices running Android 3.0 and above; fully secure SSL VPN connectivity; Exchange account configuration with certificates; a single Android client for all devices; prompt notice when Android administrative privileges are removed; and hardware lockdown which enables IT to completely disable hardware capabilities through MobileIron.

The company recently demonstrated its mobile device management and security solutions in the Verizon (News - Alert) booth at the Consumer Electronics Show which took place in Las Vegas. Additionally, MobileIron was chosen by the Colt Car Company back in November for its capabilities that will be leveraged to safeguard a new fleet of corporate-owned BlackBerry (News - Alert) and Apple smartphones, as well as to ramp up a Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) program at the organization.
