News has just broken that the Colt Car Company has selected MobileIron due to its innovative mobile device management capabilities that can be utilized to safeguard a new fleet of corporate-owned BlackBerry (News - Alert) and Apple smartphones, as well as to power a Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) program.
Through seamlessly integrating mobile device management solutions into business operations, mobile operators, service providers and enterprises are able to much more effectively secure, monitor, manage and support mobile devices.
For many years, Colt has provided mobile devices to senior executives. However, the company began to face increasing demands from its employee-base that wanted to use their personal devices within the corporate environment.
In a press release, company officials revealed that during the project to replace its executives’ traditional PDAs with modern smart devices, it saw an opportunity to increase productivity and build goodwill amongst the remainder of the workforce by enabling them to bring their own device to work.
Stuart Smith, IT Manager at The Colt Car Company, said that the team had no visibility or control over what these personal devices were doing, and securing what you can’t see is impossible. This is where MobileIron comes in, as the company’s mobile device management solutions make it easy to manage the growing variety of apps and data on every smartphone and tablet, while simultaneously providing a high level of security.
“While pressure for using consumer smart devices used to come primarily from senior executives, this has changed dramatically today,” Smith said in a statement, adding that everyone wants some form of business application on their personal device. “As we looked to update the corporate-owned devices and assess our mobile security and management capabilities, we realized we needed to extend the project to meet the needs of this user group too.”
After assessing products from across the market, including Good Technology and McAfee (News - Alert), Colt selected MobileIron for its core ability to protect the user experience, its superior multi-OS security and mobile device management capabilities and its ease of administration and automation.
The company was in desperate need of a comprehensive mobile device management solution and Smith commented that MobileIron was without a doubt the most comprehensive. “We were also impressed with how MobileIron delves into the different operating systems to retain the native experience of the individual device.”
MobileIron helps the company to protect the integrity of its corporate data for Blackberry and Apple (News - Alert) users today, without any impact to the overall user experience.
