Aruba Networks Charges Ahead in Dynamic WLAN Market

By Mini Swamy, TMCnet Contributor

Aruba Networks (News - Alert), a premier provider of next-generation network access solutions for the mobile enterprise, has gained strength in the Enterprise WLAN space thanks to its Mobile Virtual Enterprise architecture that unifies wired and wireless network infrastructures into one seamless access solution.

According to a report issued by Dell' (News - Alert)Oro Research, Aruba Networks has sequentially increased its market share to 15.9 percent. The dynamism exhibited by the WLAN market and the upward trend have been dictated by 802.11n migrations. This result marks an acceleration of Aruba’s market share gains, primarily at the expense of Cisco (News - Alert).

This fact was amply demonstrated when Aruba reported that more than 90 percent of AP shipments in its most recently completed fiscal quarter were 802.11n.

Other findings revealed that a rising number of workers are bringing their own tablets and smartphones into the workplace. This trend has triggered Enterprise WLAN growth and Aruba has become more competitive. The market growth of 22 percent from CYQ1 2010 to CYQ1 2011 also signaled a revenue growth of 52.5 percent during the same period.

“We are very pleased with our market share gains in this period,” said Hitesh Sheth, chief operating officer for Aruba. “This is further demonstration that our MOVE architecture and associated solutions resonates with our customers as they migrate from a wired centric to a mobility centric network infrastructure.”

In related news, Aruba announced the ArubaEdge Partner Program. The program will foster, certify and promote end-to-end mobility solutions from an ecosystem of technology partners leveraging the Aruba Mobile Virtual Enterprise architecture.
