Frontier Communications to Provide Metro Ethernet Services in Ohio

By Rich Steeves, TMCnet Web Editor

Sometimes, even the fastest connections aren’t quite fast enough, and consumers are always looking to improve their speeds to leverage more and more data-rich technologies. There is good news for residents of Medina County, Ohio who are looking to upgrade their telecommunications. That is because Frontier Communications is going to expand its service in this corner of the Buckeye State, planning to bring metro Ethernet and other services to over 4,000 households, bringing much faster connectivity to houses in even the remotest parts of the county.

The company, which is located in Medina, is a supplier of both digital phone and digital satellite services for the county. “We continue to invest in our facilities to make it available to some of the more remote and rural areas in outskirts of Medina,” said Patricia Amendola, manager of communications at Frontier.

The company will be adding broadband service to several areas, including Medina, Wadsworth and Seville. But there is even more exciting news to residents of this part of Ohio, as Frontier will be rolling out metro Ethernet service in both Medina and Brunswick.

“The advanced broadband Metro Ethernet service really addresses more the specific needs of mid-sized and larger business customers,” Amendola said in an interview with the Medina Gazette.

According to company sources, the metro Ethernet upgrades will offer speeds up to 600 times faster than digital subscriber lines or cable connections and can provide voice, data and video applications.

The company will continue to expand throughout the region in the next few months, bringing broadband and Ethernet services to other parts of the Medina County area.

“The equipment has been installed and is being tested,” Amendola said. “With every week that goes by, there will be more opportunity to get broadband and Metro Ethernet.”
