Thus industries based in commercial office parks across the South Bay Area will immensely benefit from tw telecom’s expanded Business Ethernet services. Using its enhanced network, tw telecom will now be able to deploy services that help meet the growing needs of these businesses.

The expansion is likely to drive growth for a large number of data centers based in the region. The enhanced capacity will allow tw telecom to deliver direct fiber-based service to more than 30 commercial data centers in the Bay Area. As a result the clients of these data centers will enjoy a fast, secure and private access to intelligent network solutions. It will also be easier for the data center clients to seamlessly connect to cloud providers in the Bay Area as well as across the U.S.

“tw telecom’s Bay Area expansion provides additional connectivity options into the Equinix (News - Alert) ecosystem for our clients, both locally and nationally,” Jim Poole, vice president of global data center company Equinix, noted in a statement.

As part of its national multi-market expansion strategy, tw telecom is expanding its metro fiber footprint across the country. The Bay Area expansion paves its entry into five new high-demand markets – Boston, Cleveland, Philadelphia, Richmond, VA, and Salt Lake City.

By the end of 2014, the company expects to enhance the density of its metro-fiber footprint in more than a third of its existing markets. Other plans include expanding its sales force to support this project, company reps said.
