Desktop-as-a-Service (DaaS) and cloud provider RapidScale has joined the Masergy Marketplace of partners in an effort to promote global development of CloudMPLS. Managed networking and cloud services provider Masergy Communications Inc. is a pioneer in the MPLS space, and RapidScale has been promoting the concept of CloudMPLS as an integral part of its development strategy.

CloudMPLS integrates three core services, uniting packet-prioritized private network connectivity (MPLS), compute services including servers and storage, and business applications offered as a service. RapidScale’s CloudOffice solution uses this principal to deliver core business applications as a service, and without the limitations of server hosted virtual desktop solutions.

Working with a master agent like Masergy offers RapidScale a number of advantages for delivering its services. The company’s Marketplace lets customers choose a cloud service, and then Masergy automatically creates a virtual path for instant, software-enabled access to the partner’s service. This speeds deployment of partner services by cutting out the number of physical interconnections and cables needed, with Masergy handling all the “heavy lifting” and back-end connections as the primary agent using CloudMPLS. Masergy expanded its Marketplace in October, placing a greater emphasis on offering cloud services.

RapidScale has been ramping up its partnerships and announced an alliance with another managed network provider and master agent earlier this week, NetWolves. The company’s cloud services are also being offered as part of NetWolves’ portfolio of services, which include network design and redundancy, application device management and real-time network monitoring. RapidScale is also working voice and data carrier UNSi and MSP TierPoint to promote delivery of its services using CloudMPLS.

The Masergy partnership frees up RapidScale to focus on what it does best – providing DaaS through its CloudOffice solution. The service offers a variety of features, including the ability to onboard tenants easily by pointing and clicking, as well as a three-step process for setting up new customers and provisioning users. It provides support for a variety of apps, including Microsoft (News - Alert) Office Professional and Lync, Adobe Suite and Citrix. The CloudStrength feature also lets users monitor real-time performance of their desktops to alleviate connectivity concerns.
