To keep up with the increased demands for faster connection speeds, PAETEC (News - Alert), a preferred carrier of master agent TBI, has revealed that will now be powering high-rate Ethernet services over 200 megabits per second (Mbps) through its advanced Ethernet-over-Copper (EoC) network. This new increase is double what the company announced back in May.

EoC leverages multiple-bonded copper pairs in the same channel, in order to reach businesses where fiber-optic facilities either cannot be used or are simply too costly, an article stated. The article went on to say that the continuous introduction of new technologies have brought forth dramatic raises in data speeds and distances from the equipment that use traditional copper wires, enabling businesses to turn to such solutions as EoC.

Currently, PAETEC serves customers within 86 out of 100 U.S. metropolitan areas and the company uses an EoC, fiber and fixed wireless network to give customers a wide range of both retail and wholesale Ethernet solutions that range in speed from 1 Mbps to 10 Gbps, according to the article.

“With more enterprises taking advantage of emerging technologies like cloud computing, data streaming, and server virtualization, the need for dependable, high-speed Ethernet service delivery is rapidly accelerating," said Clint Heiden (News - Alert), president of national accounts and fiber services, PAETEC in a statement. “By leveraging the latest EoC advancements, we’re able to meet increasing customer demand for robust bandwidth volumes at a fraction of the cost of other media."
