PAETEC (News - Alert) Holding Corporation, which owns a CLEC, a software division and a VAR unit, is a preferred vendor of TBI and a master agent, has greatly increased its cloud computing portfolio and has plans to open 13 new data centers around the country that will help to support the increased offerings the company’s portfolio allows for.

Locations for the new data centers will be in California, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Michigan, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Texas, Virginia, and one more location that has still not been revealed. PAETEC currently owns data centers in Arizona, Massachusetts, Pennsylvania, Texas and Wisconsin.

The company’s new cloud-based products are designed specifically for enterprises and midsized businesses and include a dedicated server, Virtual server, managed storage and hosted exchange. According to a press release, The Virtual server enables businesses to purchase computing and associated storage on a per-logical server basis for a monthly fee, while the Dedicated server offers turnkey implementations within PAETEC’s data centers so customers can seamlessly integrate to virtualization and cloud computing when they are ready. Managed storage allows organizations to buy storage on demand and hosted Exchange allows for customers to use the Microsoft (News - Alert) Exchange Email server directly from the cloud.

“With the advent of high-speed networks and continued migration of network intelligence into the cloud, the need for these network-based services has increased dramatically and we see that trend continuing into the future," Arunas Chesonis (News - Alert), chairman and CEO of PAETEC, said in a statement.

In related news, TMCnet reported that PAETEC selected Iris suite of products developed by Tektronix Communications (News - Alert). The article stated that PAETEC plans to use the products to provide active and passive end-to-end monitoring and troubleshooting across its network, spanning 86 of the top 100 MSAs in the U.S.
