SDReporter 4.0 Has Improved Fraud Detection, Other Updates

By Ed Silverstein, TMCnet Contributor

The latest version of SDReporter has improved fraud detection and other upgrades. It also is compatible with soft switches from Broadworks.

TransNexus’s SDReporter 4.0 is a VoIP Call Detail Record (CDR) reporting and analysis software solution for Acme Packet (News - Alert) Session Border Controllers.

It moves expanded fraud detection features from TrafficAnalyzer to a separate Web page. In addition, SDReporter 4.0 recognizes fraud by IP address, group ID and caller ID.  It also stops the call transfer fraud scheme from taking place. The scheme comes about by hacking into a SIP device, and then using the device to place outbound calls to expensive locations.  The hacked device is able to make a blind transfer to the hacker’s SIP device.  Service providers are vulnerable.

Unlike soft switches, SDReporter 4.0 also recognizes the fraudulent calls and sends automatic E-mail and SNMP alarms.

It was estimated that the SDReporter features can save businesses and other organizations between $3 million and $50 million for each fraudulent event.

In addition, SDReporter 4 is now compatible with Broadsoft. TransNexus is a Broadsoft Technology Partner.  Broadsoft provides software and services that let mobile, fixed-line and cable service providers offer Unified Communications (News - Alert) over Internet Protocol networks.

“This release of SDReporter addresses our customers growing concerns about VoIP fraud,” Jim Dalton, president of TransNexus, said in a recent company statement. “We are also seeing increasing numbers of customers using Broadsoft soft switches in their network.  SDReporter now works seamlessly with our customer’s complete VoIP networks, taking full advantage of the soft switch capabilities.”

In addition, Dalton told TMCnet, “We have updated the fraud detection capabilities in our NexOSS and SDReporter solutions to now work with Broadsoft soft switches and to recognize and stop fraud based on Group ID and User ID.”

SDReporter 4.0 also features charts of concurrent calls by Source (News - Alert) Realm, Proxy and Destination Realm, according to a blog post. Charts show estimated averages of concurrent calls for five minute periods. SDReporter 4.0 additionally offers support for three new wild card options for trigger breakouts. SDReporter also offers charts on the Server Resources page. It allows for improved track memory and hard disk use. There is also support for Asterisk (News - Alert) CDR files in SDReporter 4.0.
