The cloud is gaining in popularity, and many users want to know what software offerings are cloud-compatible. For instance, it was recently announced that products from TransNexus (News - Alert) – a least cost routing provider – can be run in the cloud.

TransNexus software is available via VMware’s Solution Exchange (VSX) and Amazon’s Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2), according to a recent blog post from Free Route Server.

VSX is a virtualization and cloud infrastructure marketplace, according to the VMware website. It lets customers interact with VMware partners and developers. They can find and evaluate varied solutions there, such as virtual appliances, vApps and vCO plug-ins.

It provides demonstrations, screen shots, videos and whitepapers from partners and developers. Also offered are licenses, support requests and trial software.

Amazon EC2 also provides resizable compute capacity in the cloud. It offers a relatively simple web service interface. Also, EC2 makes web-scale computing easier for developers, according to the Amazon website. Users can run on Amazon’s computing environment, as well.

Amazon EC2 allows users to quickly scale capacity. Users also only pay for the capacity they use. EC2 offers developers the tools to make applications which are resilient to failures.

TransNexus is a software development company. It focuses on applications for managing wholesale VoIP networks, the company says on its website. TransNexus provides an Operations and Billing Support System (OSS/BSS) software platform to several VoIP carriers. TransNexus also provides fraud detection, least cost routing, number portability, profitability analysis and QoS controls, the company added.

TransNexus offers software based on open standards. TransNexus solutions are interoperable with any SIP-based VoIP system.
