IP network services vendor NTT (News - Alert) America has announced that it is now offering a fully redundant, dual stack, Tier-1 global IP transit network.
The equipment helps NTT's customers "provide externally managed DNS options for corporations and enterprises that need global, 24/7 access and support."
Dyn (News - Alert) selected NTT because it needed 'a high performance, IPv6 ready, global network supported by engineering based customer service and chose NTT America to help power the Web infrastructure of customers like Zappos, Netflix and Twitter.'
Because the last thing the civilized world needs is for Twitter to go down.
Dyn does have a nice sense of its own history - 'In 1998, Google (News - Alert) (News - Alert) was about to transform browsers, Microsoft (News - Alert) launched a Web-integrated Windows 98 and some ambitious engineers started a DNS-focused company out of a college apartment,' company officials said in a case study.
Dyn's products for enterprises are based on the Dynect Platform, a scalable external DNS platform that directs Internet traffic, routes around outages and maximizes network performance. "The kind of advanced solutions we are able to offer depends fundamentally on two things, technical expertise and innovation, as well as support and service levels," said Tom Daly (News - Alert), Dyn's president and chief technology officer.
According to a NTT America case study, 'When the company reached two million active users they made a game changing discovery; some relatively large corporations were using the services that were primarily designed for the home and small business users. The light bulb went off for the company and they created a new service - the Dynect Platform - to provide the premium externally managed DNS option for corporate/enterprise customers who need global, 24/7 access and support.'
