Yealink Increasing Video Conferencing Capability in China
By Michael Guta, Contributing Writer

As of July 1, 2014, the population in China was estimated at almost 1.4 billion people, which makes up 19.24 percent of the total global population. More than half or 54 percent live in urban areas of the country, which is putting incredible pressure on all the infrastructure in these regions. As the government tries to cope with the challenges this number of people brings to any country, many companies are introducing solutions to use the available resources more effectively. At a recent event in China, Yealink highlighted many of the potential applications of video conferencing in Jiangsu Province, as well as the rest of the country and the world.

In addition to Yealink, the Video Collaboration Experience Tour was attended by Sharp (News - Alert), Tadiran, Yiqun, China Unicom, Wang Jie Electronics and other video conferencing solution providers for consumers, SMBs and enterprises.

As China continues to grow and implement many regulations to introduce new levels of efficiency across the country, video conferencing will be one of the tools that will be applied to make this possible. By mandating remote working several times a week for each employee, the government will decrease the amount of people that will be commuting back and forth from their office. This act alone will reduce the amount of pollution spewed by the millions of vehicles that will be removed from Chinese roads.

Yealink (News - Alert) also sees benefits for employees and businesses because of the improved communication and collaboration efficiencies that this technology will introduce in China. According to the company, the video conferencing solutions it offers have been designed to offer an affordable platform for industries across all sectors without the capital and operational expenditures of traditional systems.

The Yealink Video Collaboration Solution is designed with flexibility in mind by allowing users to extend conventional conferencing room environments to desktops, smart phones or tablets so location doesn’t become an impediment.

The company’s VC series of video conferencing system can be deployed easily with features that have a wide range of compatibility and flexible interoperability so it can be integrated with mainstream IP-PBX (News - Alert) or UC systems as well as cloud-based video conference service systems of other brands.

Some of the features of the VC120 and Yealink VC400 are:

  • Broadcast-quality video with 1080p resolution and video at 30 frames per second,
  • Dual-monitor support and screen sharing,
  • Ability to record to a USB device,
  • SIP and H.323 interoperability with other hardware and software,
  • Microphones with a 360-degree pickup range, and
  • A multipoint control unit that allows for conferences with up to four participants rather than point-to-point conferences.

Video conferencing alone will not solve the problem China or indeed the rest of the world is facing in regards to increased population, pollution and diminishing resources. However, if properly implemented this and other technologies can deliver incremental improvements that can positively affect the overall global outlook.
