Yealink, 3CX Take the Headaches Out of IP Phone-PBX Provisioning
By Tara Seals, Contributing Writer

Yealink and 3CX have formed a strategic interoperability partnership to pair 3CX’s Windows-based IP-PBX (News - Alert) with Yealink’s IP phones. Users can thus control their IP phones from their desktops, without a labor-intensive provisioning process that is sadly typical when it comes to pairing endpoints with PBX solutions.

“The combination of the 3CX IP PBX and our enterprise HD IP phone create an excellent value and innovation solution for small and medium-sized businesses,” said Stone Lu (News - Alert), vice president of Yealink, in a statement. “This highlights Yealink’s commitment to provide our customers with easy VoIP endpoints and to deliver much more possibilities on future communication for our mutual customers globally.”

For instance, if an enterprise chooses Yealink (News - Alert) SIP-T26P and SIP-T28 IP phones as coordinating terminal equipment, they can be auto-provisioned with 3CX, with the customized features that are specifically designed for different types of staff.

“If you are unfamiliar with IP phones, and rather hesitant when it comes to learning new technologies, provisioning IP phones with IP-PBX software may be intimidating,” the company said. “Worry no more, as a solution is at hand: Yealink and 3CX have formed a strategic partnership to pair 3CX’s phone system with Yealink’s IP phones for a fully interoperable end-to-end business telephony solution. Using 3CX’s automatic provisioning system, configuring Yealink’s phones with the 3CX system is a seamless operation.”

Administrators need to configure the DHCP server for option 66.  Next, they can locate the Yealink phone details online and copy the MAC address. Then, logging into the 3CX system, they simply paste in the MAC address and select the Yealink phone to provision. After that, admins need to return to the Yealink upgrade tab and select reboot.

“You’ll soon see that the system already has messages, and the phone is ready to make and receive calls,” the company said. “All and all, it’s a pretty simple setup process.”
