Yealink Rolls Out Office Phone with Smartphone Features
By Alisen Downey, TMCnet Web Editor

The world of business communications has undergone a rapid transformation in the past decade. With the birth of the cell phone, employees suddenly found that they were able to conduct business outside of the office, taking full advantage of their newfound mobility while still remaining accessible to coworkers, clients, partners and employers. And if the cell phone was a game-changer for the business world, the smartphone was a revolution. Not only could employees make and receive calls, but they could also access their email, pull up pertinent spreadsheets and tables, search for information on the Internet, and more—all from a mobile device.

The bring your own device (BYOD) movement should come as no surprise, then, as companies and employees alike realize the convenience of giving workers their own personal mobile devices to use. They are already comfortable with their devices’ interfaces and features, and likely keep these devices on them at all times anyway. VoIP and IP networks have given companies a way to link all of these devices together—as well as their office phones.

IP phones connect to a company’s network using the Internet, the same way a mobile device would access VoIP services. By coupling BYOD with IP phones, companies can create a powerful network of communication between all employees, in and out of the office building. Yealink is taking this notion a step further, embracing the age of mobility and incorporating familiar features from smartphones into the newest addition it its IP phones family, the T48G.

The T48G features a 7-inch touchscreen designed to mirror the functionality and ease-of-use of a smartphone’s screen. Learning how to use standard office phones can be a complicated process; there are either too many buttons, or deceptively few, and that confusion can lead to accidental calls and hang-ups, or worse—an accidental conference call. But with the T48G, employees won’t need to stress about learning how to use their phone. This new IP phone incorporates 29 one-touch digital DSS keys that are operated directly from the large touchscreen panel, rather than from physical buttons on the phone.

It’s an elegant and efficient solution to the mobile age of business. Yealink, a company that specializes in IP phones and serves companies all over the world, will be showcasing its innovative line of solutions at ITEXPO in Miami this month. As a platinum sponsor of the event, Yealink will give attendees a chance to check out its products at Booth No. 600, or take part in 888VoIP's Complete VoIP Solution Workshop, which Yealink is co-hosting. There’s plenty of exciting new ground being broken in the IP communications field, and Yealink and ITEXPO (News - Alert) are great places to start.
