Making the Switch to an SMB VoIP System Makes Good Business Sense

By Susan J. Campbell, TMCnet Contributing Editor

Using the Internet to make phone calls might not be good for the phone company but it makes good business sense for companies seeking efficient communications. By moving to an SMB VoIP system, like Voice Carrier (News - Alert) Mobility, customers can save up to 70 percent off of their current monthly phone bill.

The savings don’t come with sacrifices, according to this Voice Carrier piece. While keeping the current phone number, SMB VoIP service offers unlimited long-distance minutes to the United States and Canada, with access to very competitive international calling rates. There is also a flat rate, all inclusive pricing option available that makes the bill easy to read and easy to pay.

As a communication platform, SMB VoIP can offer more features. The ability to keep a current phone number is important for many small to mid-sized businesses. When switching to SMB VoIP, businesses can simply forward the existing numbers to the Voice Carrier system. Businesses can also choose to add one or more new phone numbers if applicable.

There are local phone numbers available in all states within the U.S., including 800 numbers and “vanity” numbers. The outgoing calls will display the office number as the caller identification from any computer that is currently connected to the Internet. This new feature can also be used on all mobile devices.

Voice Carrier offers a robust SMB VoIP solution so that businesses never miss another call. Companies can put their entire directory in the system so callers and employers can easily find extensions and voice mail boxes. The system can also answer calls automatically and route calls based on the business’ directives.

The system can be programmed so that callers hear the greeting of choice, whether this message includes information on office hours or that the business is closed. This particular SMB VoIP will send those calls directly to voice mail, home phone or cell phone.

Another added benefit is the way SMB VoIP from Voice Carrier provides optimal customer service. It minimizes incoming callers wait times by forwarding them on to the next available number. The Ring Carrier option rings every phone line simultaneously when a call comes into a specific department that lacks a dedicated customer service representative to ensure the caller is rapidly connected with a live employee.

This entire process can be customized to fit the needs of the specific. Giving smaller businesses the tools to give their best first impression is essential and doesn’t have to break the bank. Calls can be sent to an auto attendant with customized greetings for every voice mail entry or department and can even access interactive menus.

Voice Carrier also allows companies to maintain caller information. With a successful notification system, employees can receive e-mails or instant messages whenever a voice call or fax is sent. Those same messages can also be set to come directly to the employee’s e-mail in box. A call log can be utilized to track employee phone calls within the system in addition to using a smartphone to access the system’s online information, keeping every employee organized and on top of their communications even when on the go.
