The Voice-over-Internet-Protocol or ‘VoIP’ sector is witnessing great movement forward, as more and more users across the globe switch to the Internet-based telephone services leaving their fixed line services aside.

snom technology AG (News - Alert), a developer of advanced VoIP telephones and other equipment based on the Internet Engineering Task Force or ‘IETF’ open standard and Session Initiation Protocol or ‘SIP,’ has announced its intent to promote Usman Tahir to the company’s executive board as chief technology officer. Prior to this, Tahir had been serving the company as its vice president, Product Management, and will now be overseeing all the technology related matters of snom technology.

The company ensures that its entire product range comprising of desktop phones and IP PBXs as well, can comply with the offerings of well known communications equipment vendors. Having a degree of BA in politics and sociology, Usman had served at AVAZ Networks and Communications Enabling Technologies as a design engineer before joining snom. Additionally, he has a degree in engineering from the National University of Science & Technology, and also completed the MBA in international business from Stuttgart University.

Having been at snom since the year 2001, Usman initiated his career at the company as a software engineer. Further, he was declared a product manager. During the year 2010, Tahir had been promoted to the position of Vice President Product Management. Within the current development, Dr. Christian Stredicke (News - Alert), founder of snom has been appointed to the supervisory board of the company.

In April 2012, snom technology AG announced to offer a free class to its value-added resellers or ‘VARs’ within North America, South America, Australia and New Zealand. Although the class was free, resellers still had to register online before participating in the class, which had been designed to help them gain a certificate for the snom ONE IP PBX (News - Alert) and snom ONE plus IP PBX appliance products.
