Westwood College Deploys IP PBX System From Interactive Intelligence
By Tim Gray, TMCnet Web EditorWestwood College has completed deployment of a new IP
PBX (News - Alert) system from Interactive Intelligence at eight of its campuses throughout Illinois and California, the Denver-based school said.
Westwood College selected the Interactive Intelligence system, called Vonexus (News - Alert) Enterprise Interaction Center (Vonexus EIC), to improve the student experience and streamline admissions operations, according to Andrew Hoffman, Westwood's corporate director of infrastructure and operations.
”Our campuses had been supported by multiple hardware-centric TDM
and hybrid IP PBXs, which were nearing their end of life," Hoffman (News - Alert) said. "To provide a more effective and consistent student experience across our campuses we needed a standards-based, centralized architecture capable of running multi-channel applications.
”Vonexus EIC's all-software, single-platform architecture based on open standards such as SIP
fit the bill perfectly by enabling us to cost-effectively add enhanced functionality across our campuses over time," Hoffman said.
Westwood College is currently using Vonexus EIC to support more than 500 employees in its admissions, financial services, and student affairs departments. Vonexus EIC provides the college with SIP-based switching, automatic call distribution, interactive voice response, unified messaging
, reporting and recording.
"Already, Vonexus EIC has improved the student experience and the effectiveness of our admissions staff by properly distributing calls within our campuses and providing greater insight into our admissions activity," Hoffman said. "Vonexus EIC's Windows-based platform and single point of administration, management and reporting have also helped us improve reliability, and given us a much clearer picture into call trends across campuses."
Pending the ongoing success of its deployment, Westwood College plans to replace the rest of its existing PBX
systems with Vonexus EIC across its 17 campuses located throughout California, Colorado, Georgia, Illinois, Texas and Virginia.
Interactive Intelligence (News - Alert) first released Vonexus EIC in 1997 as an all-software, application-rich IP PBX incorporating open standards such as SIP along with tight integration to Microsoft (News - Alert) products. Its architecture was designed to lower costs, maximize interoperability, increase operational efficiencies and ensure long-term investment protection.
