“Cloud technology is changing the way businesses operate. Old hardware and telecom systems no longer support the way businesses work today; in Asia, SMEs are looking for solutions that are flexible, mobile and affordable that allow for managing business remotely using smart phones or tablets,” GigaMedia chief executive officer John Stringer noted in a statement.

“GigaCloud enables SMEs to redefine how they do business. With GigaCloud, SMEs in Greater China can jump from using legacy phone and paper-based fax systems to full-featured, cloud-based communications that are cheaper and mobile, accessible from any location using an IP phone, PC, and Web browser or smart phone,” Stringer added.

The company will provide subscription-based services to the SME customers in Greater China. The solution will include a suite of advanced phone, fax and video security systems, eliminating the need for onsite hardware, installation, and maintenance.

GigaCloud offers multiple benefits for the region’s SMEs. The cloud based system is easy to deploy and manage and eliminates the needs for on-premise systems. The location independent system is available to users anywhere using an IP phone, PC and Web browser or smart phone. It provides one unified phone number for users for both internal and external calls preventing missed calls and the system features e-mail storage and allows for retrieval of faxes from the cloud. The system also includes video surveillance security camera with footage stored on the cloud.

At the initial phase, the product will be launched in partnership with Taiwan-based Chailease Holding Co Ltd, Taiwan's No. 1 leasing company with approximately 42 percent market share.
