IP Multimedia Phone Provider Grandstream to Participate in Key ITEXPO West Session

By Susan J. Campbell, TMCnet Contributing Editor

What do voice over Internet protocol (VoIP) and Unified Communications (News - Alert) have in common? For the small- to medium-sized business (SMB), a combination of the two allows for streamlined voice management that is cost effective and easy to control. The implementation of the IP multimedia phone enables SMB users to leverage the benefits of both.

To explore this concept further, Grandstream is participating in the ITEXPO (News - Alert) West event next week, featured at booth 713. One of the company’s core engineers, Luis Grados, will be participating in the session, “SMB – The Business Case for VoIP and UC”, as well as Ingate’s “HD Voice and Video”.

As a provider of solutions like the IP multimedia phone, Grandstream will help ITEXPO West audience members to understand the migration to IP communications. While many companies have already begun, or even completed, this migration, still many others are still in the planning stages. Part of the planning stage is to identify those business cases and models that will justify the implementation of the IP multimedia phone and the switch to VoIP or UC.

Surprisingly, despite the key benefits promised in the migration to VoIP and UC, IT managers and decision makers must still pay close attention to the selected hardware, software, service provider and more to ensure an optimal transition that can produce success. The IP multimedia phone provider will enhance the ITEXPO West session by helping to make the business case for migrating from the existing technology within the SMB to a future-proof next generation platform.

In developing this business case, the SMB must be able to identify the key metrics to consider in the process. They must also determine the cost of initial implementation of the system and any IP multimedia phone deployments, as well as the amortized cost over the lifespan of the solution. It is also important to determine which components are absolutely necessary, which are nice to have and which can truly be overkill for the business.

The SMB seeking the benefits of the IP multimedia phone should understand what it will take to support a new IP communications infrastructure. At the same time, they have to be able to ensure buy-in from end users or they risk losing out on the business benefits that can be gained from the investment. Finally, it is critical to explore and understand the common mistakes businesses make when migrating to IP and implementing the IP multimedia phone.

All of these elements will be explored and explained in the “SMB – The Business Case for VoIP and UC”. If you’re considering a move to IP and want to explore the possible benefits of the IP multimedia phone, this is one event you won’t want to miss.
