Interwise Connect v7 Now Interoperable with Nortel IP PBXs

By Stefania Viscusi, TMCnet Assistant Editor

Conferencing usage is expanding in the enterprise as companies look to offer employees a cost effective and more productive way to collaborate.

Interwise, provider of IP Conferencing and Collaboration solutions announced today interoperability with Nortel IP PBX's (News - Alert).

The interoperability was announced after a series of successful compatibility tests with the Nortel (News - Alert) Communications Server 1000 (Release 4.5).

For enterprises, this allows use of both Interwise Connect and Nortel Communications Servers together to "leverage their existing PBX and bandwidth investments to allow dramatic growth in employee use of voice, Web and video conferencing," a news release noted.

This capability frees up employees from the limitation once placed on conferencing by providing the ability to connect with users regardless of the way they're accessing the conference or web meeting.

With Interwise Connect, enterprises are given the ability to use conferencing regardless of the number of available voice ports on PBXs and can instead mix TDM and VoIP. So users can still communicate with one another regardless if they're connecting via TDM or VoIPing via the internet.

With Interwise Connect v7, enterprises are also able to leverage the power of multiple collaboration tools all in one offering. This includes the ability to hold voice conferences, web meetings, webcasts, virtual training sessions, recordings as well as broadcasts. All conferencing works right from a single application, just like email.

This allows enterprises who already have investments in Nortel solutions to still make use of their investment while also enhancing and expanding conferencing usage for employees.

"This certification demonstrates our commitment to provide Nortel customers with cost saving and productivity-enhancing innovation while supporting their IT and telephony requirements with fully sanctioned interoperability," commented Frank Zvi, president and CEO of Interwise in a statement to the press.
