It's Time for Operators to Optimize Their Networks

As the penetration rates of smartphones, tablets and other mobile devices continues to increase around the world—along with the adoption of many Internet of Things (IoT) devices—wireless operators are facing a tremendous amount of pressure to improve the capacity and performance of their IP and wireless networks.

While the deployment of 4G networks is mainly underway in developed countries, global standards bodies are looking into 5G to deal with the inevitable growth, which by all accounts is at least six years away. This highlights the need to have the most efficient network in the market; because that is one of the criteria consumers look for in a service provider. Free Mobile, a French mobile broadband company, has acquired the services of Teclo Netowrks to do just that.

Teclo provides solutions to accelerate networks by 10-60 percent with its patent-pending TCP Data Optimization system, which is deployed around the world with its flagship product Sambal by tier 1, 2, and 3 service providers.

Free Mobile is going to be deploying the Sambal platform to deliver fast mobile Internet to its 8.6 million subscribers after a successful month trial in which it achieved faultless stability optimization results.

"Our decision-making process based on actual testing was fast and efficient thanks to the quality of this very well designed solution. Throughput improvements on all network technologies, especially 3G and 4G are truly impressive. The product is perfectly stable and reliable," said Thomas Reynaud, Free’s Chief Financial Officer and Head of Business Development.

Sambal is able to reduce the negative effects of packet loss and latency on mobile networks by using TCP/IP acceleration. This includes managing and optimizing data transferred through TCP/IP without caching, bringing a consistent delivery available on fixed line Internet services to mobile networks.

Sambal doesn't need modified client side software, it interworks with standard TCP/IP networking stacks included in mobile broadband clients delivering measured results of 30 percent speed improvements in typical mobile broadband networks.

"We understand that mobile operators are under pressure to deliver reliable, fast mobile Internet speeds to their subscribers. A reliable and robust mobile Internet service equals happy customers. And Sambal has an amazing track record of delivering an outstanding service," said Jane Walerud, CEO of Teclo Networks.

The dependence of mobile technology by individual consumers and businesses means the network has to be reliable in delivering the content they need any time. Losing packets of data when a customer needs it most results in delays, which can be very costly. It is therefore extremely important for service providers to optimize their networks to ensure their customers won't have a reason to look elsewhere.
