Acme Packet (News - Alert), a provider of session delivery network solutions, recently unveiled a series of groundbreaking new solutions that tremendously boosted its session delivery network portfolio, according to company officials.

The new virtualization-based session border controller solutions – Net-Net Session Director-Virtual Machine Edition and Net-Net Enterprise Session Director-Virtual Machine Edition – were reportedly introduced to address the unique functional and economic requirements of small-to-medium enterprises.

While the Acme Packet Net-Net Session Director enables a secure, flexible and interoperable SIP interconnect solution for off-net voice traffic, the Net-Net Session Director-Virtual Machine Edition helps service providers and enterprises optimize their network architectures,

"Together with our purpose-built hardware, our new cloud-enabled software provides the broadest range of solutions to help our customers meet whatever technical and business challenges they face in the shift to next-generation IP communications networks," said Patrick MeLampy, chief technology officer at Acme Packet.

Acme Packet also demonstrated Net-Net SIP Multimedia Xpress, which consolidates the session based controller and up to eight IP multimedia subsystem functions into a single solution. This is expected to help customers reduce CAPEX and OPEX (News - Alert)

MeLampy believed that cloud-based architectures not only streamline deployment but lower CAPEX and OPEX and in the process triggered next-generation services.

Another product that was unveiled was the Net-Net 7000, a platform that allows service providers to build highly scalable and cost-effective next-generation signaling cores.

In other industry news, AireSpring (News - Alert) announced its plans to fill the position of Winback Specialist (WBS), a person who will focus on re-establishing business relationships with AireSpring’s former customers. Reporting to the senior director of account management, the WBS is responsible for achieving an assigned account winback, sales and profit goal.

Among the chief responsibility of the WBS are renewing lost relationships; leading all aspects of the sales process; coordinating closely with other sales teams; selling the entire range of company products and services to assigned opportunities; increasing customer understanding of AireSpring’s IP communications suite of offerings; collecting information on reasons for customer loss; and transition re-activated customer accounts to the direct sales team after gaining customer commitment.
