In 2011, IP communications company AireSpring (News - Alert) certainly had a lot to celebrate. From announcing its next generation meshed MPLS (multi-protocol label switching) network to certifying Grandstream HD IP phones for managed cloud hosted IP PBX (News - Alert) solutions to being awarded nine Telecom Association (News - Alert) awards for outstanding products and services to commemorating its 10th anniversary, it was definitely a banner year for the company.

And this year, AireSpring is looking forward to spreading the word about its successful year as well as what is on the horizon for the IP communications company in 2012.

Accordingly, in five days AireSpring will join hundreds of exhibitors at ITEXPO East 2012, the world’s largest communications conference taking place from Jan. 31 to Feb. 3 in Miami, Fla. ITEXPO (News - Alert) serves as an educational program that teaches resellers, enterprises, SMBs, and government agencies how to select IP-based voice, video, fax, and unified communications to purchase or resell. Moreover, it provides a forum for service providers to learn how to profitably roll out services their subscribers are clamoring for.

In addition to exhibiting at ITEXPO, AireSpring will be participating in a panel discussion titled “How To: Generate Monthly Revenue with Unique Service Offerings,” taking place from 9 to 9:45 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 1. Charles Lomond, agent channel manager of AireSpring, will be joined by representatives from CA, DIGITALK and Cbeyond (News - Alert). The session will explore how the changing IT landscape is forcing service providers to differentiate their offerings from their peers more than ever before to remain competitive.

Also at this time, the average small- and medium-sized business’s network is becoming more sophisticated because of the rapid adoption rates of migrating to cloud and virtual environments. This session will highlight the challenges that face IT service providers daily such as: • Finding the time to create complex service offerings• Keeping up with the competition • Differentiating services with new value-adds• Integrating/layering services

Recently, AireSpring reflected on its ability to remain competitive in the IP communications market, which is evidenced by the fact that the company celebrated its 10th anniversary last year.

“It’s hard to believe that it’s already been 10 years,” Daniel Lonstein, chief operating officer and co-founder of AireSpring, told TMCnet at the time. “Some people say they start a business in the garage. Well, it wasn’t in the garage, but we were right next to the garage.”

When asked about some of AireSpring’s biggest accomplishments so far, Lonstein said it would be the fact that the company has emerged as a facilities-based carrier.

“When we got into the wireline business we started as a reseller without our own network,” he said. “About four or five years ago, we saw the future of IP voice and SIP and we started putting in our own SIP network and, at this point, the vast majority of our customers that we sell to are on our own network. We’ve made a huge shift from being a reseller to being a facilities-based carrier in the next generation IP space; that’s probably one of the biggest achievements for us.”
