Global Capacity Adds Managed SD-WAN to Arsenal

Flexibility, reliability and performance do not seem like too much to ask for from a network. However, this is not always the case. The advent of SD-WAN and its hybrid sibling are opening avenues to push network performance to new a level, while still providing the flexibility and reliability required, and keeping cost down – all impetus for myriad of projections forecasting explosive growth for this burgeoning arena.


With expectations being what they are, the SD-WAN space is busy with partnerships and portfolio expansions. The most recent is an announcement today from Global Capacity highlighting its newest partner, VeloCloud, and its newest offering, managed SD-WAN services. The pairing is a piece of Global Capacity’s (News - Alert) overall strategy to augment its networking offerings with software defined solutions set to meet today’s growing network demands.

The managed SD-WAN offering unifies Ethernet, MPLS, broadband and LTE (News - Alert) to create a more responsive and agile hybrid WAN architecture, in addition to efficient data routing and exceptional application performance.

Chris Alberding, Senior Vice President Product, Global Capacity noted, “As SD-WAN services increase in deployment, the demand for Hybrid Networks grows along with it. As such, the need to manage multiple suppliers with diverse technologies across various cities enabling a robust hybrid network experience is necessary. The combination is a compelling value proposition to any Enterprise regardless of the industry.”

The managed SD-WAN service will reach general availability in Q2 2017, as currently, it is only offered to select customers on a rolling basis.
