Clio, a cloud-based legal practice management platform, has joined hands with gUnify, a leading provider of hosted VOIP solutions, to develop a unified communications solution for the legal services industry.
The Clio platform is designed to keep its customers’ all-important matters, contacts and documents available anywhere. The platform features time-tracking, comprehensive calendaring, and billing capabilities. gUnify, meanwhile, is a middleware application allowing Hosted VoIP providers to expand voice offerings to Google (News - Alert) Apps customers. Together, the companies will utilize the BroadSoft VOIP connector to offer Clio users the ability to automatically log calls within Clio with date, time and duration stamps, click-to-dial, and presence from any device.
“We understand that a majority of law firm communications still take place via the phone,” said Jack Newton, Clio CEO and co-founder. “The gUnify connector provides our customers with a simple, seamless solution for automatically logging billable call activity, freeing up more time to attend to the things that matter.”
“Embedded Unified communications (UC) within Practice Management platforms like Clio are quickly becoming the norm for law firms in the cloud,” said Crisantos Hajibrahim, CEO and founder of gUnify. “gUnify extends business grade UC functionality from industry leading vendor BroadSoft (News - Alert) to the Clio user, positively impacting the user’s efficiency and productivity.”
Late last year, gUnify announced that it had signed an agreement to distribute its connector for Google Gmail and Salesforce.com (News - Alert) through the BroadSoft Marketplace, offering these applications to BroadSoft's community of more than 5,000 developers for delivering applications for enterprise customers and consumers.
gUnify explained that the gUnify Connector for Google Gmail is a cloud-based integrated unified communications solution for Google Apps customers on the BroadWorks platform. The application is installed as a gadget within Gmail, and allows users to initiate calls on-screen to Google contacts and phone numbers appearing in Gmail messages.
