In the NFL, every team begins training camp with one goal—a Super Bowl championship. A lot goes into climbing this mountain; it is not just throwing, catching, blocking and tackling. It’s more than the two-a-days and the early hours in the weight room or watching game film. Team collaboration and communication is paramount, which is why the Cleveland Browns recently partnered with DCT to provide voice and data services for the organization.

The partnership gives DCT naming rights for one of the hospitality areas in the stadium (“DCT First Legends Club at FirstEnergy Stadium”) as well as the support from a professional team aiming at nothing short of excellence.

"We appreciate the Browns organization's continued confidence in us as a trusted partner and communications provider," stated Anthony Romano, CEO, DCT.

The Cleveland Browns have surprised many with their performance on the field thus far, posting a 5-3 win/loss record putting them right in the thick of the playoff hunt at the midseason. What does not come as a surprise, is their decision to use a hosted PBX (News - Alert) provider. In a game of inches, every advantage matters—on and off the field.

Romano declared, "Knowing their business depends on critical voice and data services, we are pleased to put the latest technology in place providing the vital capacity, failover and redundancy that enables the Browns to effectively conduct their business."

Ohio-based DCT has been offering domestic and international telephony services for over 20 years. Through its network infrastructure, vast equipment and hardware as a service options as well as wholesale relationships DCT offers virtually end-to-end solutions. Its focus includes hosted PBX, cloud, data and voice solutions.

A telephony provider may not directly translate to wins on the field, but the benefits do mean victories. Many people don’t realize the effect data and communication has on a sports team. When an NFL player shows up for training camp he isn’t handed a playbook, he is often emailed a playbook. The times of being handed 10-page offensive playbooks with a student body right that works like novocaine are over; teams are leveraging data to create more complex schemes and in doing, are evolving the game.

Only time will tell where the cat and mouse game of data-based adjustments for the NFL will go, but it is quite clear it isn’t going anywhere. It has been said many times by many people that football is the ultimate team game: Eleven men working together to achieve a goal that is quite dependent on communication and collaboration and in no way is guaranteed, why not ensure off the field success when choosing a communications provider?
