REVE Systems Leverages Bangladesh Location to Promote Access to Mobile VoIP

By Susan J. Campbell, TMCnet Contributing Editor

The access to telecommunications we have today eliminates most obstacles to staying connected, regardless of location. Companies and individuals everywhere are adopting Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) to streamline communications and reduce the cost of staying connected. At the same time, mobile demands are driving new innovations and creating increased opportunities for mobile VoIP.

One company setting the standard in mobile VoIP capabilities is REVE Systems. The Bangladeshi solutions provider recently established a flagship service to enable the branding of its solution and export the software to countries around the world. As such, Bangladesh is developing a reputation as a software exporter.

To expand its message and further solidify its positioning in the market, REVE Systems attended Mobile World Congress (News - Alert) in Barcelona last week and was the only VoIP solutions provider from South Asia. As REVE Systems services clients all over the world, its presence at the show was critical.

The Bangladesh connection is important simply because VoIP is illegal there and therefore has a negative connotation. REVE Systems currently has a development center in Bangladesh with 350 employees, while another 150 individuals work in a similar center in India. The original goal, according to company representatives, was to have all development centers in Bangladesh. With VoIP services currently banned there, testing the software is an ongoing challenge.

Still, the company has done very well in international markets, delivering the mobile VoIP solutions users continue to demand. Its free app is available in the App Store for iPhone (News - Alert), iPod and iPad users wanting to taking advantage of low cost calling. And, given the ongoing demand for VoIP, the industry as a whole is expected to hit $1 billion by 2015. While the Bangladesh market could be ripe to take advantage of this opportunity, the fact that VoIP is considered unethical will limit the local economy’s opportunity to flourish there.

Those countries where VoIP and mobile VoIP are seen as viable solutions will represent considerable opportunities not just for REVE Systems, but also for those companies who brand the provider’s solutions and extend them to the current subscribers. Users can benefit from services such as REVE Chat, a Carrier Grade Platform, Instant Messaging, mobile top-up, Peer-to-Peer calls, Softswitch and Billing, Tunnelling, Bandwidth (News - Alert) Optimization and more.
