In recent years, the Telecommunication sector in Bangladesh has seen a drastic change. The public and government incentives have helped the sector to expand rapidly, and this change can be seen by the move of government to grant licences to 25 more IGWs in Bangladesh.Earlier, the nation had only four IGW operators namely- BTCL (Bangladesh Telecommunications Company Limited), Bangla Trac (News - Alert) Communications Limited, Mir Telecom and Novotel Limited. However, the scenario has changed and soon we will see new IGW operators taking their places in the Telecommunication sector.
This move on the part of the Bangladesh government will compel IGW operators to re-work their strategies. Every day, around 60 million international calls are made to and from Bangladesh, which was until now, managed by four IGW operators. As a result of the changed scenario, those 60 million will get divided into many IGW operators, leaving each with a much smaller share. This will pressurize IGW operators to optimize their investment and plan out different strategies to please their customer base. Looking at the optimized investment, new IGW operators will now target IP carriers and look to lock IP carriers with local & international support while offering competitive prices.
In this massive competition of IGW operators, the one who will roll-out its operations first, will surely have an edge over others in the Telecommunication sector. Also, building relationships with IP carriers will help new IGW operators in the long run.
On behalf of REVE Systems, CEO M. Rezaul Hassan said, “REVE Systems is excited to work with IGWs and offer them an end-to-end platform. Our company is offering a range of International Long Distance Carrier solutions that will provide quick roll out to IGWs.”
He also added that, “With REVE’s solutions, the new IGW will be able to connect end-to-end byte saving servers, which are used by majority of MENA region service providers using our solutions.”
