Sennheiser Brings Peace and Quiet to Mobile Conversations

By Erik Linask, Group Managing Editor

As you drive to work in the morning, or walk down the street to get lunch, or wherever else you might be talking on your mobile phone, there is likely to be background noise, which can often be disruptive to the conversation and make it difficult for people to hear you, even with many of today’s high-end headsets. Sennheiser Communications (News - Alert), however, says it has solved this issue with its latest headset, its VMX 100.

The VMX 100 is a Bluetooth headset that incorporates Sennheiser’s VoiceMax dual microphone technology. The theory is that by using two separate directional microphones, along with advanced signal processing that can distinguish speech from background noise, the VMX 100 creates a cleaner, higher quality conversation — for both sides of a call. Not only does the person on the other end of the call benefit from the filtering technology, but the headset also filters background noise for the wearer for incoming speech.

“From a technological perspective, the VMX 100 is an industry marvel,” boasted Andreas Bach, General Manager of Sennheiser Communications.  “It effectively improves the quality of mobile phone conversations and adapts to user behavior in most call situations. This eliminates the need for constant manual adjustments making it as easy to use as it is to wear.”

In addition to its enhancements in audio quality and noise filtering, the VMX 100 is a comfortable, extremely lightweight unit that provides a personalized fit for each user, thanks to an adjustable ball joint, which allows each user to adjust the unit to his liking — on either ear thanks to a two-way speaker. The boom has also been designed to turn on or off as it is opened or closed, adding to its ease of use.

Sennheiser’s latest headset offers up to five hours of talk time and 100 hours of standby time; it can be conveniently charged through a USB port on a laptop or PC, so user need not carry their wall charger with them at all times. For added convenience, the unit is also small enough to fit neatly into a user’s pocket when not being used. The unit is Bluetooth 2.0 compatible, and can be used with all mobile devices with Bluethooth capability — which includes nearly all new phones today.

Offering a combination of convenience and advance audio technology, the VMX 100 takes mobile conversations to a new level. No longer will users have to ask others to repeat themselves or wait a moment until the background noise subsides. Conversations can continue, regardless of either caller’s environment, saving time and minimizing aggravation. VMX 100 owners can now place mobile calls from the quiet confines of a train station, city sidewalk, or anywhere else — or at least it will seem that way.
