Sennheiser's VMX Office Headset for Comfort on Any Call

By Stefania Viscusi, Assignment Desk Editor

Sennheiser's new VMX Office headset, designed with the heavy phone user in mind, not only helps make communications more efficient, it also provides users with the comfort and quality required for successful business communications.

In this article we'll take a closer look at the sound quality offered by the VMX Office headset and the benefits it provides to users.

Because more and more workers are going mobile, the VMX Office is a headset targeted toward the "new generation" of mobile workers who demand a high level of functionality from their headsets - one that goes beyond just the office walls. This means users can take calls no matter where they are and remain professional regardless of their communication channel – all while using the same headset.

Noise levels in a busy open-platform office are no challenge for the headset as users can continue communicating effectively with out disruptions from background noise. If the conversation leaves the office, the dual microphone array of the VMX Office takes control with VoiceMax. This proprietary technology will listen for and remove background noise while focusing on the frequency range of speech, enhancing the user's voice. An interactive demonstration of this groundbreaking technology is available at www.sennheiserusa.com/TALK.

If VoiceMax and two high quality Sennheiser microphones were not enough, the VMX Office uses eSCO, or Extended Synchronous Connections to ensure that digital voice transmission is completed without losing tiny bits of data when sent wirelessly to and from another Bluetooth device. These tiny chunks of data equate to poor voice quality from dropouts in signal. Using eSCO in combination with VoiceMax conditions the voice signal for articulate, pristine reproduction on both ends of the conversation. To complement the clarity of VoiceMax and the reliability of eSCO, the VMX Office uses ActiveGard, another proprietary hearing protection circuit that protects the user of the VMX Office from sudden loud acoustic bursts.

ActiveGard will limit the dangerous amplitude of a fax signal, dropped handset or electronic malfunction by removing the energy from that signal before it ever reaches the users' ears. This feature is always on, and always protects the user with total transparency and without distortion.

The benefits of VoiceMax, ActiveGard and eSCO are felt by those using the VMX Office to manage their incoming calls on other devices. VoiceMax and eSCO work with the headset when using a Bluetooth voice-enabled device such as a mobile phone, or a desktop phone or personal computer/laptop. The docking station that charges the headset also serves as a connection hub between the headset and a desktop phone console and a PC. By pressing a single button on the headset, the VMX Office can toggle back and forth between a mobile connection and a connection maintained by the docking station. The docking station can also switch between the mentioned desktop phone as well as a PC. This allows the user to connect to up to 3 communication devices and manage their connection to them by pressing a single button.

The rear side of the VMX Office docking station also provides the user with connection to the optional HSL (News - Alert) 10 handset lifter to remotely answer/end a telephone call on a landline. The PC port, for connection to a desktop or laptop soundcard, also functions as a DHSG port for phones that allow for remote answering/termination of a telephone call without a lifter. This connection will make its way into more desktop telephone consoles in the near future, ensuring future-proof compatibility with the VMX Office.

This type of comfort and functionality is vital to succeeding to today's fast pace and challenging business environment where successful communications can determine the company's future vitality.
