Following its beta release in late 2011, cloud-enabled unified communications provider Esna Technologies (News - Alert) has released general availability of its Office-LinX Cloud Connect edition software.
Following the results of its 2011 beta version, the software is being deployed in wide release, according to Davide Petramala, executive vice president of sales for Esnatech.
“Our customers who are already using Office-LinX Cloud Connect, including higher education institutions, state and local government agencies and large commercial enterprises, have given us great feedback on its ease of use, robust feature set and seamless integration with cloud- and premise-based productivity solutions,” Petramala said in a company statement.
The software integrates Cisco Unity Connection with cloud-based groupware applications such as Google Apps and VMware Zimbra (News - Alert) as well as on-premise solutions such as Lotus Notes and Novell GroupWise that provides organizations with message handling controls from within these applications.
“Office-LinX Cloud Connect helped us solve our Cisco (News - Alert) Unity Connection voicemail integration challenges during Eagle County’s conversion to Google Gmail,” said Scott Lingle, IT director for Eagle County, Colo.
Company officials said Office-LinX Cloud Connect uses Cisco Jabber SDK to integrate with Unity Connection and transforms groupware applications such as Google (News - Alert) Apps and VMware Zimbra into a live communication and collaboration hub. Office-LinX Cloud Connect allows for “bi-directional” synchronization of messages, message waiting indicator (MWI), read/unread message status synchronization and contact resolution.
As an example, Sentinel Technologies, one of the most prominent Cisco network integrators in the U.S., deployed Esna’s Office-LinX to help bridge the gap between applications and allow for better collaboration.
“As more organizations move their email to the cloud, the need to connect their existing phone system with cloud applications like Google Gmail has never been greater,” said Tom Dawes, vice president of sales Engineering of Sentinel Technologies. “Office-LinX Cloud Connect bridges the gap between Cisco Unity Connection and Google Apps, and allows us to provide our customers a turn-key solution that is quick and easy to deploy.”
Office-LinX Cloud Connect edition includes a single inbox where voice messages in Cisco Unity Connection are synchronized in Google Gmail, VMware Zimbra, Lotus Notes and Novell (News - Alert) GroupWise. In addition, users can read, listen, respond, and manage messages from their native email client on their desktop, web interface or mobile device. The software also provides secure and private message controls, which are supported in Gmail, Zimbra, Notes and GroupWise.
