For the first time, India-based Tata Communications has been positioned as a ‘Leader’ in the newly published Gartner (News - Alert) Magic Quadrant for global network service providers. Tata Communications’ completeness of vision and the ability to execute were supposedly evaluated by Gartner in preparing the new report.
Gartner explained that its Magic Quadrants are a culmination of research in a specific market, giving users a wide-angle view of the relative positions of the market’s competitors, and companies that are placed as leaders are those that execute well against their current vision and are well positioned for tomorrow.
The new Magic Quadrant report elaborated that the global networking services demand is bound to grow in the upcoming years due to globalization and the increasing adoption of cloud computing where data is often hosted in different places. The demand for bandwidth to support video machine-to-machine communications and big data, coupled with IT centralization would only increase more. Companies that become more dependent on IT are going to prefer networks that deliver higher reliability and performance control.
Tata Communications (News - Alert) owns and operates a fiber network that measures more than 240,000 km spanning over 31 countries, and the network includes the only global fiber ring and the only fiber network that connects the Middle East.
“Through the years, we've made several investments in our network infrastructure and services; I believe this leaders’ position is a substantial achievement which truly represents how far we have come,” said Sumeet Walia, head of global enterprise business at Tata Communications. “I also believe this report shows our strategic roadmap in terms of network and managed service capabilities; our strength in both developed and emerging markets such as Africa, the Middle East and Asia/Pacific; and our focus on customer experience.”
