Dialogic (News - Alert), a provider of communications technologies, announced the release of the new Dialogic Brooktrout (News - Alert) SR140 Fax Software, the new Fax over IP (FoIP) software that supports the latest version of Internet Protocol (version 6), also known as IPv6.

By offering support to IPv6 in addition to the predominant IPv4, the Fax over IP solution Release 6.4 enables hosted service providers and enterprises to make the transition to IPv6 easier.

The new Brooktrout SR140 release enables hosted service providers and enterprises to deliver fax over IP, as well as deploy fax services and fax server applications, making document management, business process automation and regulatory compliance easier than ever.

The new version also includes G.711 V.34 fax protocol support, which more than doubles the speed of fax transmission when compared to V.17, according to company officials. Although in most cases the T.38 protocol is considered the most reliable protocol for fax over IP, there are times when it is not supported, or it is only supported using V.17 speeds.

By offering support for G.711 V.34, Dialogic helps customers take advantage of the fastest transport available under the given circumstances -- ultimately reducing costs by speeding up the fax transmission process.
