TMC (News - Alert), a global, integrated media company helping clients build communities in print, in person and online, has announced that the Fax ATA channel (http://fax-ata.tmcnet.com/), sponsored by AudioCodes (News - Alert), has been launched as the newest addition to the TMCnet Online Community program.
The Fax ATA channel is designed for VoIP and Fax Service Providers and businesses alike, seeking information on connecting fax machines and multifunction printers (MFPs) to their service offerings or premise-based fax servers using HTTPS. Focus for this new AudioCodes channel is on fax technology and solutions including HTTPS-based Fax ATAs, Fax Connector Software, and media gateways supporting both HTTPS and SIP connectivity. Case studies -- such as Education Networks of America (ENA (News - Alert)) and information on the Fax ATA channel -- will focus on connectivity, reliability and security challenges in the VoIP and Fax industry. Commercial or government enterprises and customers that visit the Fax ATA channel can find valuable resources such as whitepapers, best practices, product guides, testimonials, feature articles and industry news related to HTTPS-based faxing with a Fax Machine or MFP.
“AudioCodes is pleased to join forces with TMC and launch the new channel with a case study from ENA” said Jim Twitchell, Director of Business Development-Fax Technologies, AudioCodes. “TMCnet is known for providing valuable content and we’re thrilled to continue our presence with TMCnet and sponsor this forum where people can see examples of how HTTPS-based fax connection solutions improve reliability and security, and also give additional centralized control as in ENA’s case.”
Education Networks of America offers schools and libraries district and statewide managed connectivity, as well as communication among other services including fax machine connections. Early on in their fax deployments, ENA began to see some reliability issues with standard VoIP based ATAs. These issues were extremely difficult to troubleshoot, and consumed many engineering and support resource hours, without clear conclusions. One aspect that was clear was that they needed to move control of the fax negotiation from the ATA into ENA’s datacenter where they could fully control it.
The AudioCodes HTTPS Fax ATA system came to the rescue for ENA. Simon Weller, Director of Systems Architecture with ENA, said, “We rolled out AudioCodes HTTPS Fax ATA and Fax Connector solution and integrated it into our core. That allowed us to utilize our existing voice infrastructure while providing a parallel platform toward our customers. As with all of our products and services, we try to make it as easy for our customers as possible, and part of that service is we manage the hardware and provide all the inter-connections. Centralizing as much as possible keeps our support costs down and quality up.”

AudioCodes HTTPS Fax ATAs are used by many VoIP providers where the device is used to replace a user's connection to a traditional telephone line. The AudioCodes HTTPS Fax ATA, along with the Fax Connector software, allows fax machines and multifunction printers (MFPs) to easily integrate with enterprise fax servers or connect directly over the Internet to VoIP Providers and Internet Fax services -- all done reliably and securely over the Internet including using satellite, cellular data and Wi-Fi connections.
“TMCnet welcomes AudioCodes’ Fax ATA channel into our Online Community program complementing their existing AudioCodes Enterprise SBC channel,” said TMC President Dave Rodriguez (News - Alert). “AudioCodes is a well-respected IP communications solutions provider that shares our vision of advancing new technologies. Our Online Community program is a powerful community-building vehicle assisting our partners in building their brands, while contributing to the vast array of valuable content which drives traffic to TMCnet, the most-visited communications and technology website in the world.”
TMCnet is the leading website for communications and technology professionals. TMCnet is visited by 1.5 million unique monthly visitors and generates more than 60 million page views every month, according to Webtrends.
