Belden’s newly released industrial security router, EAGLE One makes use of the company’s technology to further the security features in industrial automation and is equipped with ruggedized improvements targeted at the oil and gas industry.
Belden supposedly termed the EAGLE One as the Swiss Army knife version of security routers that is capable of helping guard networks from accidental network events and unforeseen security threats.
Frank Williams, senior product manager for security at Belden, commented, “As we continue to evolve our security platform, we asked our customers about their needs and challenges, and built a device that can be used in nearly all industrial situations, including extremely hazardous industries like oil and gas operations. We think of the EAGLE One as the Swiss army knife of security routers. Whether you’re looking to upgrade or enhance your existing security features, or even take the first step, this device will help guard networks from accidental network events and unforeseen security threats.”
Designed for industries where harsh environments are a common factor such as oil & gas, power and transportation, the new EAGLE One can protect users’ infrastructure against network incidents and cyber-attacks, improving operational security, reliability and performance. The solution can withstand extreme workplace temperatures ranging from -40°C to +70°C.
The EAGLE One can enable maximum flexibility in its protection of industrial plants, oil rigs, substations and transportation systems because of its compliance with global standards like United States Occupational Safety & Health Administration’s Class I, Division 2 hazardous location conditions, Europe’s ATEX directives and the Germanischer Lloyd classifications.
Oliver Kleineberg, security program manager at Belden added, “When you look at what EAGLE One is capable of – it can meet the needs of the industrial market for years to come. We also designed it with our existing portfolio in mind; to ensure those who may be looking to upgrade their system would have a seamless transition by being able to simply drop the EAGLE One into place.”
EAGLE One router can be deployed to realize benefits like fuller protection of automation networks with an optimal price-performance ratio, redundant backbone connections for production cells, text-based configuration file for automated pre-configuration and more.
