Megaport, a telecommunications provider in Australia has announced it will leverage the features of Brocade (News - Alert) MLXe Core Routers to extend its reach into the Asia Pacific market.
Megaport’s new offering makes use of Brocade’s technology to deliver 100G network services and is specifically targeted at companies that generate and consume vast amounts of data.
Bevan Slattery, CEO at Megaport said, “We want to revolutionize the way communications networks connect. For too long the industry has been dominated by providers that are operating on legacy technology and are often bound by restrictive price models based on limited capacity. Megaport’s offering is based on a massive interconnection fabric designed to allow providers to use a single physical Ethernet interface to seamlessly connect with other parties.”
The Brocade MLX series of advanced routers are capable of offering exceptional scale and performance, high reliability, and cost-saving operational efficiency that can even cater to the demands of the high-end service providers and enterprise networks. They deliver high-density 100 Gigabit Ethernet (GbE), 40 GbE, and 10 GbE routing and OpenFlow SDN protocol in true Hybrid Port Mode for software-defined networks providing flexible flow control to respond to dynamic traffic patterns and address business needs.
Megaport is a newbie in the Australian telecommunications market and only recently the company extended its reach to 18 major data centers in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane. The company is anticipating an increase in demand and claimed that it is well placed to roll out 100 Gbps network interconnection services across the entire Asia-Pacific region.
“We believe that providing the highest port speeds is critical, which is why the high-performance Brocade MLXe Ethernet platform is a fundamental enabler for our services,” Slattery said.
In related news, CyrusOne (News - Alert) recently selected Brocade MLXe Series routers and Brocade expanded NFV product portfolio.
