TP-LINK Unveils 8-Port PoE+ Switch

TP-LINK has unveiled a Plug-N-Play enabled 8-port PoE+ (Power over Ethernet Plus) gigabit switch, mountable on desktop or a rack. The switch delivers a simple and environmentally-friendly means to extend an existing wired network.
Electrical power and data are transported by the TL-SG1008PE through a solitary Ethernet cable. Users can therefore easily extend their network to remote, difficult-to-power locations. Users wishing to expand their network to IP surveillance cameras, IP phones, access points, or other PoE+ enabled devices will find the 124W total power budget offered by the TL-SG1008PE ideal.
A majority of 8-port PoE switches currently available deliver power to only four of the eight ports, considerably restricting usability. This restriction is eliminated by the TL-SG1008PE, as it is capable of supplying power to all IEEE (News - Alert) 802.3af/at compliant devices connected to any of the eight available ports.
The system is safeguarded by an in-built priority function in case of a power overload. The function is arranged according to the number of each port, with one being the top priority and eight being the least. In the event of all connected devices consuming power greater than or equal to 124W, the switch will stop supplying power to the least-priority port. The functionality of the most vital devices will therefore not be hampered.
The Plug-N-Play design of the switch eliminates the requirement for supplementary configuration or administration during the installation process. The switch can be positioned on a desktop or connected to any normal 1U rack with the help of its 13-inch steel case. Up to 75 percent of power usage can be saved with the switch’s energy proficient design. The switch is ideal for individuals requiring a user-friendly, eco-friendly, completely enabled 8-Port PoE+ network. The TL-SG1008PE, available at retail and web stores, has been priced at $199.99.
